Having been heavily-linked with a move to either Inter Milan or Chelsea, I would predict that El Kun will be moving sooner, rather than later. Perennial league under-achievers, Atletico Madrid will sell their most prized young asset at a maximum price, who himself yearns for Champions League football and a greater challenge.

Having Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, or Diego Milito, Wesley Sneijder, and Samuel Eto’o on his team would certainly push Aguero to a higher level and allow him to shine on a brighter stage. Source:Bleacher Report

One of the stars who gained respect in the eyes of many, in the shortest span of time is definitely the Atletico Madrid star, Sergio Kun Aguero. The Argentinean never fails to deliver and performs well in every match that he steps in. He wears the number 10 jersey in his Spanish club and plays alongside the FIFA World Cup 2010 golden ball winner, Diego Forlan and the Portuguese star, Simao.

Sergio Kun Aguero recently came under the radar when he got married to the Argentinean legend, Diego Maradona’s daughter. After the marriage, Aguero’s career came to its peak as he performed well for his club and for his international team which was managed by his father in law, the man himself, Diego Maradona.

In the FIFA World Cup 2010, Aguero mostly sat on the bench as he was not given too much time on the field. Argentina’s first match was against the Nigerians and they won the match 1-0 without the help of the Atletico Madrid star.

During their second match against the Koreans, they could not really penetrate through the defensive wall of the Koreans until Aguero was injected on to the field. Combining with the Barcelona magician, Lionel Messi, Aguero helped Gonzalo Higuain score 2 goals and eventually a hat-trick. The fans saw what his quick feet could do on the field and how he could help the team win a match in a second. He was being utilized as a power-sub in the Argentinean squad even though Diego Maradona was the manager of the team.

In recent years, Aguero has been able to score great goals for his club and for his country. He has even helped his team come out of nowhere as he combined well with Diego Forlan to help Atletico Madrid win the final match of the Europa cup. He was unfortunate enough not to score a goal in the FIFA World Cup 2010 but he was able to score a few for his club in the previous season.

He was even part of the squad when Atletico Madrid defeated Barcelona for the first time in the Spanish League. Atletico Madrid was the only team that was able to achieve a “victory” over the Spanish giants Barcelona.

Recently, Aguero has shown interest in the English Champions, Chelsea. He thinks Chelsea is a great club and he will “love” to play for a club with such a strong heritage. Chelsea on the other hand actually needs Aguero as they have already lost Michael Ballack, Joe Cole and Deco. An addition of the Argentinean star to the team is definitely going to make the team stronger.

With tough competition in the coming season, Chelsea needs to recruit players like Sergio Kun Aguero, in order to win. Manchester City are now a very tough side as they have bought too many star players and made their team really strong. In the previous season, Manchester City was unlucky enough to draw a lot of matches but this year round they plan on winning matches and winning trophies.

On the other hand, Chelsea are the defending champions and some say they are “cursed” from the Champions’ League. Chelsea, even though they are a strong side have never won the Champions League. Many say that it is a curse that needs to end now and Aguero is the one who can help lead a team to victory; just like he did in Atletico Madrid as he won the Europa Cup for his team.

Chelsea always loses during the semi finals or in the final match of the Champions League. The Champions League is one of the most important tournament for club-footballers in Europe as it is, sort of, a World Cup for all the best club-teams in Europe.

Sergio Kun Aguero looks forward to Chelsea and wants to be a part of their squad alongside Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien and even John Terry. With Aguero being a part of Chelsea; they are definitely going to become an “unstoppable” force. The point is, is Chelsea going to buy the Argentinean star? Let us wait and find out.

Chelsea target Sergio Aguero has not been contacted by Juventus, Inter or Milan – agent.. No Serie A move for Kun, according to his representative…

Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero’s agent has ruled out a move to Italy for the time being. The young striker has been linked with a number of top clubs throughout Europe over the past year, including the Serie A trio and notably Premier League giants Chelsea.

“I have no information on Aguero being sought by Inter, Juventus or Milan. He is owned by Atletico, so if there was anything only the directors would know,” his agent Jose Segui said during a recent interview, according to sportal.tv.

“Sergio is doing well in Madrid, but if there is an agreement with another club we’ll speak with them. The cost of any transfer would be decided by the Spanish club.”

Aguero is also expected to receive his Spanish passport in the near future and thus would not take up a non-EU spot on a roster, making him an even more attractive prospect. He featured in three matches for Argentina at the 2010 World Cup before their quarter-final exit at the hands of Germany.

Diego Maradona may be out of his mind, but even his loony approach to managing won’t keep Argentina from advancing; they have the tournament’s best player (the 5-foot-7 attacking magician Lionel Messi) and most in-form striker (Diego Milito of European champs Inter Milan). Nigeria has too many defensive problems to advance. So that leaves either South Korea or Greece. The Greeks have the oldest manager in the Cup in 71-year-old German Otto Rehhagel and the ugliest style of mind-numbingly boring, novacaine-worthy negative defensive soccer imaginable.

The matches
Korea Republic-Greece, Group B, Nelson Mandela Bay/Port Elizabeth, 13.30 (local time)
Argentina-Nigeria, Group B, Johannesburg (Ellis Park), 16.00 (local time)
England-USA, Group C, Rustenburg, 20.30 (local time)

The big game Argentina-Nigeria

Ahead of Argentina’s opening match against the Super Eagles, Maradona is well aware that his chosen starting XI will provoke much discussion, analysis, criticism and praise back home. The former world champion has promised an attacking line-up, possibly with Lionel Messi operating just behind a front pairing of Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain. Maradona is likely to opt for three at the back, with Martin Demichelis and Gabriel Heinze flanking the vastly experienced Walter Samuel. Highly fancied to go far this time round due to their immense goalscoring potential, La Albiceleste will now need to confirm that potential on the pitch.

In the opposing camp, Nigeria coach Lars Lagerback, though deprived of one of his driving forces, the injured John Obi Mikel, has made it clear that his team are not in South Africa to simply make up the numbers. Nigeria have lost to Argentina at the FIFA World Cup twice before, in 1994 (1-2) and in 2002 (0-1). Nigeria fans, however, will hope that on their own continent they will constitute an altogether different prospect.

Let’s take a look at the attacking players that Argentina coach Diego Maradona has at his disposal.

Best player in the world, Lionel Messi.
Champions League final game-winner, Diego Milito.
$70M Man City star Carlos Tevez. Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higain who scored 29 goals this season. Finally there’s Maradona’ son-in-law and Europa League winner with Atletico Madrid, Sergio Aguero.

Astonishing, isn’t it? So how come this team struggled to qualify for South Africa, only securing the South American section’s fourth spot and getting thrashed 6-1 by one of the continent’s worst teams, Bolivia?

The answer probably lies in the coach. Maradona is one of the greatest footballers of all time, but has little coaching experience.

He doesn’t even seem suited to being a coach. As a player he was a free spirit, a maverick, a pint-sized package of passion and pure skill; all the things that most of the world’s great coaches are not.

Under Maradona, Argentina is disjointed, defensively weak, and totally relying on their stars to deliver.

Atletico Madrid have warned Manchester United that star forward Sergio Aguero will be going nowhere this summer.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has told fans he may not make many further additions to his squad this summer after the arrivals of Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez.

But reports have suggested that, despite the levels of debt the club is burdened with, United are ready to follow up their long-standing interest in Aguero and meet the staggering £52million release clause in his Atletico contract.

Chelsea and Real Madrid have also been linked to Argentina star Aguero, 21.

Meanwhile, Atletico and United could also clash over Ajax striker Luis Suarez. AS also reports that the Spaniards are lining up a move for the United target, who has bagged 41 goals for the Dutch club this season and will line up alongside Forlan for Uruguay at the World Cup.

Diego Forlán struck twice, the second four minutes from the end of extra time, to decide the first UEFA Europa League final.

Diego Forlán struck with four minutes of extra time remaining as Club Atlético de Madrid ended a 48-year wait for major continental silverware, beating Fulham FC 2-1 in the inaugural UEFA Europa League final.

There had been little to choose between the sides throughout. Forlán and Simon Davies exchanged first-half goals then, as fatigue set in, they matched each other for endeavour. Yet as those around him tired the Uruguayan international gained energy. With the lottery of a penalty shoot-out looming, he did just enough to divert Sergio Agüero’s cross into the far corner via Brede Hangeland. The wait was over.

If this was to be the night Fulham introduced themselves to the big stage after 131 years in the shadows, there were few obvious signs of nerves. They started confidently, expansively, passing from the back. That almost proved their undoing on 12 minutes, as Agüero pounced on a loose Danny Murphy pass just inside the Fulham half. He fed Forlán with only Mark Schwarzer to beat from the angle but the striker, in such fine form, fluffed his lines – his low shot across goal hitting the upright.

Fulham heeded the warning, finding a more natural rhythm and, midway through the half, a long-range shot from Davies to warm David de Gea’s hands. Agüero was knocking on the door in more subtle style at the other end, ever a threat cutting in from the left flank. His contribution to the opener, though, was less refined. José Antonio Reyes outstripped Dickson Etuhu on the right, lofting a pass for Simão to direct into Agüero’s path. The striker miscued his effort but it fell perfectly for the lurking Forlán, who made no mistake this time.

But Fulham have performed so many Lazarus acts this term that they could reasonably have the feat renamed in their honour, and within five minutes it was all square. Bobby Zamora did well to turn inside Luis Perea on the left though the opening it brought had all but closed when the ball rolled to Zoltán Gera. The Hungarian international steadied himself and crossed towards the far post where Davies lashed in.

After surviving more Atlético pressure as half-time approached, Fulham emerged for the restart a renewed force. The Spanish side were indebted to the reactions of De Gea, the goalkeeper wary to the threat of Gera after a brilliant Murphy pass, then beating away Davies’ shot after the ball dropped fortuitously for the winger. In between Zamora, a major injury doubt before the game, had made way for Clint Dempsey – it failed to stem the Fulham tide, though as the game became more and more fractious Atlético got on an even keel.

Extra time was increasingly inevitable, a test for any side let alone two who have played over 60 games of the season. Forlán has played the majority for Atlético but ominously for Fulham he looked fresh – Quique Sánchez Flores’s greatest regret must have been that his No7 was not on the end of his own surging run and cross on 105 minutes as Eduardo Salvio and Agüero both failed to capitalise. And then, with penalties approaching he was in where it mattered; nearly half a century after Atlético beat ACF Fiorentina to claim their first major European honour, they have a second.

Diego Forlán was able to savour a priceless match-winner after his strike propelled Club Atlético de Madrid into the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League in a 2-1 win at Galatasaray A?.

Substitute Diego Forlán provided a clinical finish in the last minute to earn Club Atlético de Madrid a 2-1 victory over ten-man Galatasaray A? and a place in the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League.

After a cautious first half, Atlético midfielder Simão broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute, but Kader Keita levelled three minutes later for the hosts, just as he had in the first leg, which ended 1-1. The turning point nonetheless came when Galatasaray lost Caner Erkin to an 82nd-minute red card, with Forlán pouncing to hit a late winner and set up a tie with Iberian rivals Sporting Clube de Portugal.

An Elano header and a deflected shot from the Brazilian were the highlights of the predictably tight early stages, with the first clear-cut chance only arriving in the 35th minute. Keita whipped over a cross from the right and skipper Arda Turan steered a difficult shot over the bar with Sergio Asenjo at his mercy. José Antonio Reyes, meanwhile, was busy in a playmaking role at the other end, where Forlán came on for injured striker Sergio Agüero just before the break.

The game needed a goal and Reyes nearly provided it after the restart, first being denied by Galatasaray’s former Atlético goalkeeper Leo Franco as he tried to round him, and then meeting a long ball forward with a shot on the bounce that rattled the crossbar. Instead, it was Simão who found the net, steering the ball past Franco after José Manuel Jurado had headed the ball on from a throw-in. The lead lasted just three minutes, though, with Arda floating the ball over to the far post where Keita was waiting to head in.

As tension built in the closing stages, a second yellow card for felling Juan Valera led to Caner’s dismissal. Then, just as extra time beckoned, Forlán collected a clever pass into the box from Reyes, twisted past his marker and fired home a shot that took his side through.

Galatasaray will welcome Club Atlético de Madrid to Istanbul next Thursday holding a crucial away goal after Kader Keita’s equaliser ensured a UEFA Europa League round of 32 first-leg draw.

José Antonio Reyes’s perfectly placed free-kick had put Atlético ahead midway through the first half and visiting goalkeeper Leo Franco was a busy man after that. But after Atlético custodian David De Gea was forced off through injury, Keita struck.

The visitors had the brighter start and a fine Arda Turan shot tested teenage goalkeeper De Gea, who impressed in the 2-1 defeat of FC Barcelona on Sunday. However, rather out of the blue, Atlético took a 23rd-minute lead, Reyes’s set piece from the angle of the box to the right of goal beautifully curled into the opposite top corner.

Atlético were inspired and Leo Franco tipped over a Diego Forlán free-kick that nearly dipped in. Visiting coach Frank Rijkaard made a move on 35 minutes, introducing on-loan Barcelona playmaker Giovani Dos Santos, but still his side were defending, Leo Franco denying both Sergio Agüero and Raúl García from point-blank range.

Leo Franco was beaten by a snap-shot by Simão but the ball bounced away off the crossbar. De Gea was having a quiet spell until just before the break, turning away Mustafa Sarp’s header at full stretch.

Ten minutes into the second half Keita embarked on a solo run but De Gea dived to save his shot. Leo Franco was still working, stopping a strong Agüero strike and Simão’s swerving free-kick.

However, with 19 minutes to go De Gea had to be replaced by Sergio Asenjo, who started all but one of Atlético’s pre-Christmas UEFA Champions League games. Six minutes later Keita ran on to Hakan Balta’s fine deep cross and shot past Asenjo at his near post.
