Sergio Aguero wants to play in 2012 Olympic Games

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has told his new club he would like to play in next year’s London Olympics.

The £38million summer signing is expected to make his debut from the bench in Sunday’s Community Shield against Manchester United at Wembley.

The Argentina international helped his country win the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and has already made himself available to defend their Olympic crown, which will clash with City’s schedule next summer ahead of the 2012-13 Premier League

Sergio Aguero arrives at Manchester City

Argentina striker Sergio Aguero is on the verge of becoming Manchester City’s record signing after undergoing a medical.

The 23-year-old flew in from his homeland, via London, this morning and was taken to a city centre hospital to begin his medical examination.
About three hours later he left to go to the club’s Etihad Stadium but, with negotiations seemingly very relaxed and moving along smoothly, Aguero opted to take a break and go out for lunch before continuing negotiations later in the day.
